The reconstruction of Austin Street from FM 2770 to San Antonio Road would incorporate on-street parking, sidewalks, and stormwater treatment elements.

Current Status:
The City of Buda commissioned Lionheart to create a conceptual plan for Austin Street based on the development of the Downtown Master Plan. City Council reviewed the concept plan in November 2023 to confirm the vision and expectations for the design of Austin Street.
City Council selected the design firm, Halff Associates, Inc., on Jan. 3, 2024 to design the project. Geotechnical borings are complete. Utility locating was performed in April. Preliminary design was presented to the Buda Bonds Oversight Committee (BBOC) on June 10, 2024, and City Council on June 18, 2024.
A public open house was held on August 8, 2024 and a virtual open was released on July 29 and was open through August 14, 2024 to inform the public of the proposed project and receive input and feedback.
BBOC reviewed the public engagement input on August 19, 2024. The bond team continues to reach out and discuss the project with the property owners and businesses along the project boundary.
Final design will begin after City Council reviews the public engagement input, which is expected to occur in December 2024. View the Austin Street Reconstruction Project Preliminary Plan
