Current Status:
The City of Buda commissioned Lionheart to create a conceptual plan for Austin Street based on the development of the Downtown Master Plan. City Council reviewed the concept plan in November 2023 to confirm the vision and expectations for the design of Austin Street.
City Council selected the design firm, Halff Associates, Inc., on Jan. 3, 2024 to design the project. Geotechnical borings are complete. Utility locating was performed in April. Preliminary design was presented to the Buda Bonds Oversight Committee (BBOC) on June 10, 2024, and City Council on June 18, 2024.
A meeting with property owners along Austin Street will occur in early-August 2024. More information on date and time will be released closer to the event.
Final design will begin after BBOC and City Council review of the public engagement input.

Current Status:
The City of Buda has defined the scope of the project by incorporating the intent of the bond project as well as the elemental design approved in the Downtown Master Plan.
This project involves TxDOT right of way and requires a funding and engineering agreement before seeking bids unless, upon agreement, TxDOT relinquishes control of these roadways to the City of Buda.
The overall project concept was endorsed and approved by the Buda Bond Oversight Committee and City Council in early 2024.
The City has selected Halff and Associates a professional design consultant for this project. Preliminary design began in May 2024. Preliminary design was presented to the Buda Bonds Oversight Committee (BBOC) on June 10, 2024, and City Council on June 18, 2024.

Current Status: The proposed roadway connecting Old San Antonio Road to the IH-35 frontage lane requires an easement agreement with HEB. HEB is considering alternatives to their property with no anticipated date for any decision. The City will continue to collaborate with HEB in design considerations, which may become a Public Private Partnership in scope and results.

Current Status:
• WSB completed the preliminary design of the Main Street East Project between IH-35 and Firecracker Drive. The design team worked with Kimley-Horn (Professional Design Consultant for Sunfield) to coordinate and line up the proposed improvements to Main Street east of Firecracker Drive. The Buda Bond Oversight Committee reviewed the schematic design on Nov. 20, 2023 and Feb. 26, 2024.
• The City met with property owners adjacent to Main Street along the City’s project in mid-January 2024 to view and discuss the proposed design. A public meeting was held on Jan. 31, 2024 at the City of Buda City Hall. A virtual open house was also conducted for the public’s viewing and comment after the in-person public meeting. Stakeholder input has and will shape and guide the project as the project moves through final design, which is anticipated to begin in April 2024.
• City Council reviewed and approved the preliminary design on Mar. 19, 2024.
• WSB is also designing an interim solution to the Main Street improvements to alleviate congestion and traffic back-ups at IH-35 at Main Street. City Council reviewed and approved the preliminary design of the interim solution on Nov. 28, 2024. The interim solution is in final design and bidding will likely occur this summer.

• WSB LCC continues to refine the design of the Main Street East Project between IH-35 and Fire Cracker Drive in preparation for stakeholder review. The design team worked with Kimley-Horn (Professional Design Consultant for Sunfield) to coordinate and line-up proposed improvements to Main Street east of Fire Cracker Drive. The Buda Bond Oversite Committee reviewed the schematic design on Nov. 20, 2023. The City intends to meet with property owners adjacent to Main Street along the City’s project in mid-Jan. 2024 to view and discuss the proposed design.
• A public meeting is scheduled for Jan. 31, 2024 at the City of Buda City Hall. Stakeholder input has and will shape and guide the project as the project moves through final design, which is anticipated to begin in Spring 2024. A virtual open house will also be available for the public’s viewing and comment after the in-person public meeting.

Current Status:
• The City’s geotechnical consultant completed the soil sampling and testing. The geotechnical firm also installed and gathered groundwater data using Piezometers (subsurface water level monitoring equipment) along Middle Creek Drive to monitor, record, and document groundwater levels.
• K Friese + Associates has evaluated the collected data and developed a recommendation to rehabilitate Middle Creek Drive. The recommendation includes installing a perforated pipe along the roadway to intercept the groundwater and convey the water to nearby stormwater inlets. The recommendation also includes providing for private connections at property lines – homeowners will have the option to connect from their individual sump pumps through their property to the stormwater connections.
• K Friese + Associates presented the recommendations at a Whispering Hollow and public stakeholder meeting on Jan. 17, 2024, at Buda City Hall. A virtual open house was also held for the public’s viewing and comment, view the materials here.
• The Buda Bonds Oversight Committee reviewed the Middle Creek Drive project in February 2024 and endorsed the proposed design. City Council reviewed the preliminary design on Mar. 19, 2024.
• Stakeholder input has and will guide the project as it moves through final design, which is anticipated to begin in April 2024.

These recommendations will include options for how to manage the groundwater and how to intercept and convey the water through possible perforated pipes and accommodate private connections at property lines.

The goal is to meet with property owners, gain insight and input, and prepare to make the public aware of the project. A public meeting and virtual open house were held on Sept. 27, 2023. Stakeholder input has and will shape and guide the project as the project moves into final design and construction.
• City Council reviewed the Old Black Colony Road 30% preliminary design on Nov. 8, 2023 and provided K Friese + Associates with direction and feedback on the design.
• K Friese + Associates finalized the 30% preliminary design in February 2024. City Council reviewed the revised preliminary design on Feb. 20, 2024 and approved the proposed design. Final design is anticipated to begin in April 2024.

• WSB presented the proposed deceleration lanes to the Buda Bond Oversight Committee on Nov. 20, 2023, and Jan. 22, 2024. Eastbound right-turn deceleration lanes are recommended at both intersections with Garlic Creek Drive: Garlic Creek Drive/Remuda Trail and Garlic Creek Drive/Grove Lane. A public and neighborhood meeting was held on Dec. 4, 2023 at the Garlic Creek Amenity Center. Stakeholder input has and will shape and guide the project as the project moves into final design, which began in early April 2024.

We will present WSB’s preliminary design on the length of the right-turn lane and recommended travel lane improvements to the Bond Committee in November, and the preliminary design will be complete in January 2024.

• The City’s design consultant, WSB, completed the topographic survey of the project areas and is in 90% design phase of the new sidewalks.
• The project was presented to the Buda Bond Oversight Committee on Jan. 22, 2024, and City Council on Feb. 6, 2024. The sidewalk gap along Old San Antonio Road was removed from the scope of work. The existing narrow sidewalk in front of 270 Old San Antonio Road may be reconstructed by the City’s Public Works Department.
• The sidewalk gap along Cabela’s Drive is at 90% design level. Engagement with property owner(s) for dedication of easements is underway.

August 2023: The City’s design consultant, WSB, completed the topographic and metes and bounds survey of the project areas and initiated preliminary design of the new sidewalks. Staff intend to advertise the project as an invitation for bids in October.
January 2023: In January, City officials approved a contract to begin work on the construction of a temporary sidewalk, bridge structure, and pedestrian crossing to provide safe pedestrian access between Bella Vita neighborhood and downtown Buda.

Freese and Nichols, Inc. refined the preliminary design of the W Goforth Project in February 2024. The design was presented to City Council on Feb. 20, 2024. The Council’s Mobility Committee reviewed the proposed design on Mar. 21, 2024 to further evaluate the project. The proposed design was presented to Council for further consideration on Apr. 16, 2024.
City engagement with property owners along W Goforth Road will occurred in early May 2024 to ensure impacted property owners are aware and informed of the project and its associated requirements regarding easements, right-of-way, drainage, utilities, and property impacts. A virtual open house was released on May 16 and was open through June 13, 2024 to inform the public of the proposed project and receive input and feedback. An in-person public meeting was held on Jun. 11, 2024 to give the public additional opportunities to view and provide input on the project. From these meetings, the City and design team hope to gain the insight and input for consideration for planning and design of the W Goforth Road improvements.
The public feedback was presented to the Buda Bond Oversight Committee and City Council on June 18, 2024. The design team received input and will present a modified preliminary design concept to Council in August 2024.

In January 2024, we will kick off the New Year at a gallop as we involve the public in elemental and functional design awareness and input for final design through the end of March.

• Freese and Nichols, Inc. is working on the preliminary design.• The City plans to start engaging with property owners along W Goforth Road in December 2023 to ensure property owners are aware and informed of the project and its associated requirements. The goal is to meet with property owners, gain insight and input, and prepare to make the public aware of the project in January 2024. Stakeholder input will shape and guide the project as the project moves into final design.
August 2023: On Aug. 21, 2023, the City staff presented the preliminary design and sought input from the Buda Bond Oversight Committee for form and functional recommendations, elements, and street sections as input for the schematic design. The City plans to conduct a public meeting in November 2023 to discuss the project with the property owners, neighborhoods, businesses, and the community.
April 2023: Geotechnical field work was completed and samples were sent to lab for analysis. The city is currently evaluating four design options developed by the design team, Freese and Nichols. The team will share an update and the recommended design option with City Council this summer.

March 2023: Preparations for Geotechnical work began on West Goforth Road to evaluate the soil, rock, groundwater, and other materials prior to the preliminary design.
February 2023: The Buda City Council approved a new contract for the reconstruction of West Goforth Road, awarded to Freese and Nichols. Field work has already started to collect data.
