Overpass Road/FM 2001 Intersection Improvements

The goal of this project is to address congestion during peak traffic times and improve the 3-way stop with potential accommodations for bicycles and pedestrians. This project is also identified in the City’s Transportation Mobility Master Plan.
Current Status:
The City of Buda has evaluated options for the improvements to the Overpass Road and FM2001 intersection. Improvements to Overpass Road and FM2001 likely will affect the intersection of Overpass Road and E Goforth Street and Firecracker Drive. Overpass Road and FM2001 are TxDOT roadways, thereby requiring coordination and collaboration to enable any improvements to the intersection(s). The Bond Team made a request to TxDOT to consider modifications to the Overpass Road and FM2001 intersection. TxDOT has reviewed the request, and final decision and timing to modify the intersection was discussed with the Mobility Committee in March 2025.
Although conditions may change, the 3-way stop at FM2001 and Overpass will be removed and only the stop sign on northbound FM2001 will remain. This change will occur after TxDOT constructs a signal outside the City limits at the intersection of Overpass and Firecracker Dr.
