RM967 West Sidewalk
project status
To improve pedestrian mobility, a new sidewalk improvement project is underway to address the sidewalk gap along RM967, west of FM1626 to Buda Sportsplex Drive. The main purpose of this project is to make it safer and more convenient for people to walk between the Middle School, Buda Sportsplex, businesses, and neighborhoods by addressing the gap in the existing sidewalk.
Improvements include building a new sidewalk and filling in missing sections, especially in areas where breaks exist in the pedestrian pathways. The plan is to install a sidewalk along the south side of RM967, in a dedicated easement, connecting existing sidewalks near McDonald’s to the pedestrian crossing at RM967 and Buda Sportsplex Drive. The new sidewalk will be funded by the Sidewalk Fee in Lieu Fund, contributions paid by local commercial developments. By investing these funds, the City aims to create a more accessible and connected pathway, benefiting everyone in the community.
